November 2020

I just saw that Collected Works Bookstore in Santa Fe, New Mexico put me at the top of their list under Staff Picks in the Mystery Category, which they're calling Mystery Movember. That gave me a lift. Nando Lives! Muchas Gracias, Collected Works.

Dec 2019

I am now in the fifth edition of The King's Lizard, and am happily selling in the following manner: Send an email to wilddogbooks@cnsp.com and I will exchange any or all of my three books for $12 a book and will mail to you for no additional cost.

Or contact Collected Works Bookstore and they will get a book out to you promptly.

Summer 2020

Why did I go pretty much on my own? I got SO TIRED of being bullied by Amazon that I withdrew my books from them. Their system in no way accommodates a smaller outfit like mine and the cost of selling a book to you was ridiculous. I work in good faith and like my books to be treated with respect.  Thanks for understanding!

New Years Eve, 2018.

A second edition of Lizard's Kill was published in late spring of 2018. Interestingly, all copies of the first printing were lost during delivery and there are stray lizards crawling all around someone else's warehouse in some unknown location in the world. The printer kindly sent me a new shipment when recovery looked hopeless. I am pleased the books continue to sell well particularly at Collected Works of Santa Fe, Bodes Mercantile in Abiquiu, and amazingly at my local grocery store in Eldorado.

Santa Fe, New Mexico February 4, 2017

Tuesday I leave for Washington DC and the AWP writing conference. I am presenting the Lizard Tales on Friday morning, the 10th of February at 9:00 a.m. as a member of Laura Hitt's panel entitled Ecofiction: Spreading Ecological Literacy through Stories. I'm honored to be included and it will be a feather in Nando's cap.

September 4, 2016

How time flies! A few changes have taken place at The Lizard Tales... In the spring of 2016 The King's Lizard was edited one further time and the fourth edition was released. I was itching to get at the 52 minuscule errors and/or silly words that have been bugging me. Someday that will happen for Dead Lizard's Dance as well, but right now this author is mostly singing and dancing and partying in the rain, (instead of sitting at my computer.) Forgive me!

September 7, 2015

On my way to the Anza Conference in Pueblo, Colorado in a couple of days. My speech is written and it feels just about right. Some fact, some fiction. Maybe others will gather from my talk how humane and capable our excellent Governor Anza was.

AS soon as I return it's on to the Three Trails Conference in Santa Fe, September 16th through the 20th, where I'll have a table for my books. I'm eager to meet the people who really do care about what came before us, how we got here and how Santa Fe came to be what it is today.

SOON after that, on October 3rd, I'll be at El Rancho de Las Golondrinas with my books during their Harvest Festival. That is my favorite weekend out there, with hot fresh bread baked in the hornos, grapes to crush, and the big wheel on the flour mill clanking away as the water turns it.

June 26, 2015

I am honored, delighted in fact, to be invited to be a guest speaker at the International Conference of the Anza Society in Pueblo Colorado this September. I fictionalized Juan Bautista de Anza in my three books, but a lot of research went into being able to do that. Still, I got to be more playful than most with the governor. I plan to make this fun, and I'll really enjoy hearing the other speakers and seeing the place where Anza finally trounced the Comanche Leader Cuerno Verde. I heard the late Anza historian Don Garate give his speech to this group many years back in full costume and partly in Spanish--if I can only do half as well!

June 19th, 2015 Taos, New Mexico

I'm just back from a great time with the mystery club at Moby Dickens bookstore. We had lunch together at Stella's to discuss my newest book, Lizard's Kill, and it was a real treat for me to talk about history, mystery and writing books with these people, a lot of whom felt like old friends by the end of the luncheon. Thank you to Jay and Betty at Moby for choosing Lizard's Kill as June's Mystery of the Month. What a pleasure for this author.

March, 2015
